Kindergarten Transition

Preparing for the Transition to Kindergarten

Children who turn five years old on or before the first day of school will transition from Pre-K services to Kindergarten for the upcoming school year. This transition is an exciting and important step in your child’s educational journey.

Kindergarten introduces students to the academic expectations of elementary school while continuing to support their social, emotional, and developmental growth. Understanding what kindergarten may look like can help families feel confident and prepared for this next stage.

Why This Transition Is Important

The move to kindergarten is an important developmental step. During this time, students begin to:

  • Build foundational academic skills

  • Learn classroom expectations and routines

  • Develop independence and confidence

  • Strengthen communication and social relationships

These experiences support long-term success as students continue through elementary school.

Working Together for Student Success

Our school community is committed to supporting every student as they begin their elementary school journey. Whether students follow the general curriculum or require individualized supports through an IEP, the goal is always to ensure that each child has meaningful opportunities to learn, grow, and succeed.

If you have questions about kindergarten placement or the transition process, please contact the school for additional information.
