Information Principal Sara Jones Hours of Operation Gateway Education Center currently has 17 classrooms: 8 School Age and 9 Pre-K. Classroom make up is on average 7 students, 1 teacher and 1 full time teacher assistant. The school follows guidelines set by the federal, state, and local governments to meet specific needs as outlined in each student’s Individualized Educational Plan (IEP).
I.E.P The Individualized Education Plan is developed with the collaboration of teachers, therapists, parents/guardians, students and others who may be involved to help meet the individual's needs. Students' needs are best met in the least restrictive placement. Students with severe cognitive, developmental, medical, and/or physical disabilities. Ages 6 months to 3 years in the infant toddler program (GCPA) Ages 3 to 5 in the Pre-K program. Ages 5 to 22 years in the school age program. Classroom staff members include a lead teacher and one assistant. In some instances, classrooms may have two assistants or share a floater with another classroom. Classroom sizes range from 5-12 students. Teachers are required to be Certified/Licensed in areas appropriate for the population of students served (Birth to Kindergarten, Adaptive Curriculum). A collaborative education model is frequently implemented with the inclusion and cooperation of the classroom staff, related service providers (therapists) and specialists.
